HI guys, In case any of you actually could go anywhere, Oakdale Emory is canceling worship services on Sunday, 2/7. Stay home. Stay safe.
Yes, we ARE having rehearsal tonight, 2/3. Please be careful driving.
Dear Ones, Here are a few ways you can reach out and help folks during the Christmas season:
ANGEL TREE – NOV 22, 29 & DEC 6. There’s a Christmas tree decorated with ornaments representing a gift desired by a family in need. You just take the ornament, purchase the gift (sometimes it’s as easy as gift cards) and bring it back to the church. United Methodist Women will handle distribution.
PASTOR’S DISCRETIONARY FUND – ONGOING. There is an account at church that is used to help families in need. It provides assistance for various financial needs. You can drop off a check at the church office or on Communion Sundays, there are collection plates in the front of the sanctuary. Please make checks payable to Oakdale Emory (specify in memo – Pastor’s Discretionary Fund).
JOYFUL NOISE! SITUATION FUND – ONGOING. Joyful Noise! maintains an account that is used for emergency financial help for JN! families. You can drop off a check at rehearsal or in the JN! mailbox. Please make checks payable to Joyful Noise! (specify in memo – Situation Fund).
TOYS FOR TRIBES – THROUGH 12/6. Joyful Noise! is collecting new toys and gently used clothes for Native American children living on reservations. Please bring your donations to rehearsals. Last day of collection will be 12/6. Running Strong for American Indian Youth will handle the distribution.
TOYS FOR TOTS – THROUGH 12/20. There are collection boxes around the church for new toys for children in need. US Marines and Olney Kiwanis will handle distribution.
These are just a few of the ways you can reach out this Christmas. There are many other ways to help as well. Consider asking your friends and family to forego exchanging gifts this year and use the money to help others so that everyone can have a Merry Christmas. Besides contributing financially, there are many other ways to give of your time and talents.
Blessings, Becki
